Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file

In recent Windows 2003 server or Vista installations you might get this error when trying to launch an executable file: Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item.

SOLUTION: Right click the file, select Properties. On the first tab there is a button Unblock.

Some sort of crazy Windows security ‘feature’ blocking executable files that have been copied from an external location. Not funny!

At least keeps support crew in business :p
